Grappling with the Search for Truth
We believe each student should have the opportunity to learn how our ancestors and our contemporaries have grappled with the search for truth, and the chance to explore timeless questions that have inspired the great religious traditions of our time.
Our purpose is to challenge students to become knowledgeable about the origins of religious and philosophical thought, as manifested throughout history in the world’s great cultures and religious traditions. After acquiring a deeper understanding of the important role religion has played in human history, students explore the question of how great thoughts and beliefs are relevant in our time.
Students learn about individual traditions such as Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, and Christianity, and then engage in their own critical evaluation of the role these religions have played in history and the influence they have on the contemporary world.
