Industrial Arts

The industrial arts program begins in the Middle School.

Basic woodshop skills are learned in fifth grade and are further reinforced and augmented with new tool use in sixth grade. Boys are introduced to all the major hand tools and are also given a preliminary introduction to several power tools.

In seventh and eighth grade, boys will build upon the skills from woodshop in the more technological setting of our Idea Lab.  Boys will be given the opportunity to approach the engineering design process through projects using hands-on physical builds as well as designs through computer programming software that connects with our 3D printers and laser cutter.
