Technology Department

The Technology Dept. delivers secure, reliable, and integrated technology solutions to facilitate the mission of Brunswick School as it applies to teaching, learning, administration, and student services.

We believe that our boys must learn to be responsible digital citizens and effective, independent digital learners. To that end, all Upper School students are provided a leased laptop, replaced every two years, as an indispensable tool for communication and collaborative learning. The Upper School laptop program enables us to exploit the benefits of technology for student learning by ensuring that it is readily accessible whenever it is needed. It increases teachers’ ability to provide for individual learner needs and provides a safe and structured environment for expanding student potential for creative and constructive use of technology.

Curriculum-specific software is used in a variety of academic disciplines, and effective Internet research becomes a vital component of a student’s academic life. As access to technology resources increase, students are expected—and taught—to synthesize and create their own truly original work, to present and publish that work using the most effective media and tools, and to manage and maintain the technology they use daily.

An Important Message from the Chairman of the Board

It is with profound gratitude for a job exceptionally well done that I write to advise you that Tom Philip has informed the Board of Trustees of his plans to retire in June 2027, at the close of the 2026–2027 school year. When that milestone day arrives, after 26 years of his steady and extraordinary leadership, Tom will be the longest tenured Head of School other than Brunswick’s founder.
